Welcome to my Alpha Heroes series. I’m thrilled to introduce you to the Battleson brothers. They are a hot sexy bunch with lots of brawn, tons of brain power, and hearts of gold. The series is composed of five novels. Each novel tells the story of one of the brothers and the brave women who sneak through their defenses to steal their hearts.
The novels are numbered, indicating the order in which I wrote them—Ajax, Max, Troy, Apollo, Kass, Sebastian, Knox, Kane, and Mac. But even though the stories are interrelated and you will gain the most insight into the overarching plot by reading the books in that order, each story is self-contained and can be read as standalone book. I’m a storyteller, so my playlists are short versions of my novels told through some of my favorite songs. I love all kinds of genres, newbies, oldies, smart, sappy, Broadway, rock, pop, niche. I listen to all kinds of music.
For the series playlist, I’ve selected three songs that reflect the progression of the Battleson brothers as a whole. The first song, Warriors by Imagine Dragons, reflects the Battlesons’ state of mind as their story begins. The second song, Tonight/Found by Lin Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt, reflects the brothers’ ongoing transformation as their values—and the values of the women in their lives—evolve as they find love. The last song, Nothing More by the Alternative Route, summarizes the new bonds they’ve forged and who they’ve become as the series comes full circle.
Embedded in the lyrics of Nothing More you’ll find the main message I wanted to convey when I told the Battlesons’ stories. The song also speaks to the way I think we should treat each other so that we can build a better world. And yes, I do believe that, together, we can build a much better world with space for all.
As a gift for my readers, I’ve also included playlists for each book of the Alpha Heroes series, songs that reflect the journey of each of the couples I wrote about.
Each playlist starts with a song that reflects the hero’s state of mind as the story begins. The second song reflects the heroine’s state of mind at the start of the book. Then I work through the arc of the story by choosing songs that suggest what the characters are experiencing and how they’re changing, growing, and evolving. These songs might reflect her or his mood, and sometimes, both of them.
And then, of course, we get to the happy ending. 😊
